I make work about the things that stay with us.
I am a multidisciplinary artist working across fiber, embroidery, quilting, photography, printmaking, paper, found materials, and mixed media.
My work often begins with something difficult to name: a memory, a phrase, a contradiction, a social assumption, or a question I cannot quite let go of. I use familiar materials and processes to examine identity, language, stigma, survival, control, memory, and the ways we define ourselves.
I am interested in what happens when beauty, humor, anger, tenderness, and discomfort are allowed to exist in the same place.

Some projects begin with a personal experience. Others begin with language, politics, stigma, or a question that keeps circling back. These are a few of the works that have most clearly shaped the direction of my practice.
FIBER ART · COMMUNITY · RESISTANCE
Banned
Two portrait quilts featuring community members alongside words and phrases that have been restricted, challenged, or pushed out of public conversation.
The project uses the visual language of quilting and portraiture to examine censorship, collective voice, and who gets to decide which words, identities, and ideas are allowed to remain visible.

I AM NOT
A photographic self-portrait transferred to fabric and hand-embroidered with names and judgments that had been used against me.
By recording those words and stitching them directly onto my own image, I turned them into something I could confront, examine, and ultimately refuse to accept as truth.

Piecing Myself Together
A pixel self-portrait made from 5,775 individual fabric squares.
I began the project while preparing to leave an abusive marriage. I told myself I would have a new life by the time it was finished. The work remains unfinished, but the life I was working toward has already begun.

RECURRING THEMES
Different materials. The same questions keep returning.
My work changes depending on the idea, but certain questions return again and again. I am drawn to the ways language shapes identity, how memory settles into the body, what people carry after difficult experiences, and how making can become a way to examine, resist, repair, or redefine.
LANGUAGE
Words leave marks
Names, labels, rules, censored language, and the things people say to one another often become material in my work. I am interested in how words can define, wound, control, protect, or be reclaimed.
IDENTITY
Who gets to define us?
Much of my work asks what happens when someone else’s version of who we are collides with the person we know ourselves to be.
MEMORY
What stays behind
I return to the physical details of memory: rooms, objects, textures, routines, phrases, and sensations that remain long after the original moment has passed.
REPAIR
Something different
Thread, fabric, paper, photographs, and found materials give me ways to take things apart, rearrange them, and build something new without pretending the original history disappeared.

Stigma Redwork
An ongoing fiber project examining the language, assumptions, and social consequences that continue to shape how people living with HIV are seen and treated.

Quilted Cranes
A developing installation of 1,000 origami cranes folded from magazine pages featuring quilts, connecting repetition, paper, memory, and Paducah’s quilting culture.
MIXED MEDIA · DIORAMA
Rabbits
A fully handmade living-room diorama built inside a vintage children’s play sink, influenced by David Lynch and to be populated by needle-felted rabbit figures.
FOUND OBJECTS · MEMORY
Memory Work
A developing body of work using embroidery and found materials to examine childhood memory, fear, confinement, and the physical details that remain long after an experience has passed.
EXHIBITIONS + RECOGNITION
The work has found its way into the world.
I have exhibited work in Paducah and St. Louis across photography, fiber art, embroidery, and mixed media. My work has received two honorable mentions, and I have also served as a juror for a youth exhibition.

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT
The work has changed because I have.
My creative practice has developed through years of self-directed learning, experimentation, and following whatever process interested me next. Earlier work was often functional, playful, or technical. Over time, the making became more conceptual, personal, and connected to the questions I wanted to explore.
2009–2014
Making + Learning
Knitting, garments, accessories, baby clothing, lace, cables, and increasingly complex fiber techniques.
2015–2019
Building + Experimenting
Costumes, mixed-media objects, Perler bead pixel work, constructed pieces, and projects that required figuring out unfamiliar materials and processes.
2020–2023
Finding Voice + Direction
Photography, quilting, embroidery, printmaking, sewing, smocking, and increasingly personal work including I AM NOT and I LOVE ME.
2024–PRESENT
Concept + Expansion
Mixed media, socially engaged fiber work, large portrait quilts, stigma-focused embroidery, installation ideas, diorama, paper folding, and longer-term conceptual projects.
